Hello everyone! I hope you had a safe and healthy holiday season. I am excited for this New Year and all the new and exciting activities. This month of January we are starting off with discussing our goals for 2022 and hope for a brighter future.

As the snow is finally upon us that brings you to our next couple activities which will require some science. We will be making Snow Volcanos as well as making our own snow. Since we can’t go out in the snow I thought it would be fun to bring the snow to you! Stay tuned to the Facebook page to see the results!

Did you know that activities provide an exercise regimen three times a week for the residents to participate in? This seated exercise program occurs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:45 am right before morning activities.  We encourage everyone that can to join us in the morning. I plan on introducing seated yoga this month. Exercise and yoga are very beneficial to anyone at any age. Yoga is a great way to work on your strength and flexibility.

On January 17th residents and staff will be celebrating or very own Spirit Week, each day will be something new to wear or do. First up is wear your favorite color! Also this week we will be celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day discussing his legacy as a prominent civil rights leader. We have a small documentary to watch for the residents.

To finish up the month we will be doing an activity for Compliment Day on January 24th where we will give compliments to each other and post them up for everyone one to read. Scientists have found that being paid a compliment actually lights up the same parts of your brain that get activated when you get paid a monetary award. I hope this leads to a more positive year!
