Bing Norton

12/26/1932 – 08/31/2024

Marion Eugene Norton was born on December 26, 1932, in Anamosa, IA, the son of Leonard and Pearl (Meredith) Norton. He graduated from Anamosa High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. On April 23, 1955, he married Betty Kula at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stone City. Bing then worked for a short time at Hometown Dairy in Cedar Rapids before attending the DeVry Institute where he studied electronics. Upon his return he worked at Bob Schwartz Radio Repair in Mt. Vernon. He then worked at Anamosa Lumber Company and in 1966 he began his career as storekeeper and bookkeeper for Iowa Electric Light and Power in Anamosa and later transferring to Cedar Rapids. He retired in 1991 after 25 years of service.

Virgil Behrends

09/30/1936 – 09/09/2024

Virgil Lee Behrends was born September 30, 1936, at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, the son of Louis and Hannah (Hayen) Behrends.  Virgil attended Wayne Township School #6. He graduated from the Monticello Community School District with the class of 1955.  Virgil served 2 years in the United States Army.  He returned home to help his parents farm. He also worked as a farm hand for George Tobiason.
