Activities in Action
All of us at the Anamosa Care Center & Woodland Park would like to thank everyone that joined us for our Annual Hotdog Festival! We had lots of new memories made with family & friends! The residents, kids, and adults enjoyed dunking the administrator in the dunk tank and playing games. Big thanks to everyone who donated money at the Hot Dog Festival. We received over $200 worth of school supplies for the Anamosa School District.
During the month of September, we celebrate Labor Day, Grandparents Day, the first day of autumn, and the start of college football season! The first week in September, residents will be enjoying some outside time with a Labor Day discussion where we will reminisce about previous occupations, learn about new occupations, and learn the cost of education now. We will also play a game called what’s my job, where residents will guess the occupations based on different clues. Residents will also be playing some new games this month. Guess the flower, trivia, last letter game, card bingo, wheel of fortune, and what’s in the bag are just a few.
Friendly reminder, resident bingo is held every Friday afternoon in the dinning area. Bingo prizes are funded by donations. If you would like to donate to the bingo fund, you can do so by putting money in the donation jar by the front office or dropping off items. Items we use for bingo prizes include: clip on or pierced earrings, necklaces, new socks, large font word searches, knick-knacks, and other items you think a resident would like or need. We would love for volunteers to come in and help some of the residents play bingo. If you are interested in volunteering at bingo or any other activity please contact Brooke Etten, Recreational Program Director at (319) 462-4356.
Have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend!
